This course will provide occupational and physical therapy providers with an introduction to evidence-based practice relating to infant treatment and handling. Course objectives will include: (1) introduce typical and atypical acquisition of the developmental milestones, (2) describe common health conditions that impact typical development, (3) introduce facilitation of typical motor patterns and therapeutic handling through the developmental sequence, (4) provide state regulation strategies to utilize with infants, and (5) reviewing sensory differences commonly seen in infants with prolonged hospitalizations. These objectives will be met through didactic content, case reviews, and utilization of kinesthetic learning through lab practice and patient demonstrations.
Cancellation Policy:
Registrants will be notified via email if a scheduled course is canceled. If applicable, registration fees will be refunded in full excluding any service fees. Registrants have until 1 week prior to the course to cancel and receive a refund (less a $50 administration fee). No refunds will be issued for non-attendance. If a course is rescheduled, registrants will be given the option to attend the course on the new dates or receive a full refund.
Attendance Verification:
Attendees are required to sign in and out each day and complete a post course survey to receive certificate of attendance.
Resolution of Complaints:
Attendees may file a complaint with the course coordinator, Lauren Vanderwerf via email at lvanderwerf@phoenixchildrens.com, if not satisfied with a continuing education course they have attended at Phoenix Children’s. Complaints will be investigated with resolution provided within 14 business days which may or may not include a refund.
